Case Studies

Moixa is involved in numerous pilots and trials, predominantly in the UK on Smart Storage, Smart DC and energy sensing technology. Pilots include projects with LCNF - Low Carbon Network Fund, Technology Strategy Board R&D, Beta customer groups, and Retrofit projects at residential and university accomodation sites.

Case study groups and pages provide an overview of systems installed and will provide updates as the trial progresses on example sites. You can also click to build your own configuration and system based on example case studies.

Smart DC Storage Trials

A pilot of 25 systems supported by TSB Smart Power grants in 2012/13 which demonstrate distributed storage powering and shifting DC Lighting & electronics off peak.

Arcola Theatre - Integrated Buildings

Moixa has installed multiple MASLOW  smart storage systems powering DC lighting and electronics across non-performance spaces at Arcola Theatre (London, Dalston), which aims to be a low-carbon theatre and showcase of renewable energy technology. The site also features our sensor technology, energy visualization and analysis tools to provide the building with perfromance and use information across the renewables, and has bid for a further grant to support integrating on-site fuel-cell and PV resources.

LCNF - SOLA-BRISTOL - (Bristol/WPD)

Moixa is a supporting partner and supplier of technology to Siemens and Western Power Distribution in the Low Carbon Network Funds Project - B.R.I.S.T.O.L, managing over 150Kwh of distributed batteries in 30+ homes and 10 Schools. The storage can charge via smart triggers off-peak or from local renewables, and provide power to local connected DC demand such as LED lighting. Storage resources can also be used to provide support for local network issues, such as voltage control.

Really Smart Homes - Energy Sensing - (Southend-On-Sea)

A roll-out of 45 homes with multi-channel energy sensors, measuring energy use on circuits, temperature/C02 and other metrics, providing a real-time energy map to enable stakeholders to visualize and learn about energy improvements, and to measure the impact of retrofit technologies. 2012/13

Smart Meter Integration - (TSB)

An earlier trial of 25 systems supported under the TSB Smart Meter grant, in Spring 2011. These demonstrate the Moixa Smart DC system linked to Smart Meters.
